About the Retail Buyer Position

We’re seeking a confident and ambitious Retail Buyer to join our team of retail professionals. As a Retail Buyer for our company, you’ll be the key person responsible for selecting and purchasing the merchandise we’ll sell in our stores, you’ll be ensuring we keep up in a competitive retail market.

Success in this role is dependent upon good research skills, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to close on a deal. You’ll also want to be knowledgeable about current sales trends!

Retail Buyer Responsibilities

• Research and analyze current market trends along with consumer insights
• Review inventory at other stores
• Suggest new product offerings based on research
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers
• Establish new contracts with applicable vendors
• Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to ensure products are obtained at the best possible price
• Complete the purchase of products to fill inventory needs
• Resolve price discrepancies as needed
• Monitor inventory to confirm which products sell the best
• Generate sales reports as needed to present to management

Retail Buyer Requirements

• [2+] years experience in a similar role 
• High school diploma required, BA/BSc in business or marketing preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Working knowledge of eCommerce software
• Strong familiarity with logistics and distribution 
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Superb attention to detail and critical thinking skills
